Southampton’s unprecedented success!
The second KidsOut Southampton Question of Sport event was held on Friday 6th March at Southampton FC ‘Saints’ Stadium. Hosted by locally-born radio presenter, impressionist and entertainer Mike Osman, the event was an unprecedented success raising over £55,000 for the charity and smashing last year’s total by over £10,000. Mike, a long-term supporter of KidsOut, kept everyone entertained throughout the night with his infectious sense of humour.
Congratulations go to GKA for winning the Question of Sport competition and K.A.R. Contractors Ltd for winning the Champion’s League. We salute the winners of the other fiercely contested Higher and Lower and Spot the Ball competitions; finally, the very lucky raffle winners who are headed on a two-day cruise to Le Havre. The auction saw a private box for 16 with meal at Newbury Racecourse go for £4,000; a day’s charter onboard a Sunseeker Shamu yacht for £2,500; and Marc Chagall’s ‘Red Rooster’ go for £1,650. Pledges from attendees raised an astonishing £7000 all of which will go to help disadvantaged children in the local area.
KidsOut would like to thank our main sponsor Moore Blatch, Barratt Homes and all of the other sponsors for their support. On the evening, event chairman Glen O’Nion received the KidsOut “outstanding contribution” award (only 3 recipients are selected each year) for his consistently “above and beyond” contribution to KidsOut has transformed our work in the Southampton region. His efforts alone have resulted in KidsOut supporting more than double the number of disadvantaged children in the area. Thanks also to all committee members and the fantastic work you have done.
We look forward to seeing all of you next year and we hope to announce the date very shortly. Please sign up to our Newsletter for early details.
