Bonfire Night Treats at Smart Raspberry Cookery Workshop!

SR2On Wednesday 24th October, KidsOut organised another cookery workshop with Smart Raspberry, and this time the children were making tasty treats for Bonfire Night!

Twelve children attended the workshop where they followed some step-by-step instructions to make cheesy bonfire bread. As the bread was baking, the children prepared some delicious rocky road.

One refuge worker from Wycombe Women’s Aid said “The idea that they were in control of their own recipe and ingredients made the children feel important. They were really happy to take their cooked things home and share it with their mum.”

One child loves cooking so much that she “jumped for joy when I told her about the activity.”

Another child was excited to tell us “I really enjoyed baking at the cookery school, I’m so proud of the bread rolls I made.”

Wycombe Women’s Aid were keen to express their gratitude and how much the trip meant to the children they care for: “As workers it was so nice seeing the children relaxed and happy remembering how they were when they arrived. Anything that helps with self-esteem is always beneficial for the children to get involved with. Many thanks.”

Thanks again to Smart Raspberry for another successful cookery workshop. We look forward to making some more delicious treats with you in the future!
