Mark Hardy’s amazing birthday present

Recently, Mark Hardy, president of Leighton Buzzard Rugby Club, turned 60 and to celebrate the occasion, a birthday party was held at the Rugby Club on Saturday 15th June.Instead of accepting birthday gifts Mark asked all his guests to donate to charity on the night of the party.

Around 260 people enjoyed the birthday bash in support of Mark, who has been president of the club for 20 years and is also a governor of Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School, in Aylesbury. Guests included family, friends and members of both the men’s and women’s rugby teams.

The party was a ‘black tie’ occasion, featuring a live band, with two excellent singers; in addition, there was a brass section in support, so guests could enjoy both vocal and jazz music which succeeded in encouraging so many guests into filling the dance floor.

In total, Mark and his guests raised an outstanding, £1,955 for KidsOut and a similar sum for a local charity, Leighton-Linslade Cancer Support Group!

Everyone here at KidsOut would like to give a massive thank you to all who donated to KidsOut and we’d like to give an even bigger thank you to Mark himself, for doing such a great thing for the charity.
