Leighton-Linslade Town Council Raises £3,533 for KidsOut!

KidsOut were privileged to have been selected by the Leighton-Linslade Town Council asKidsOut Mayor one of the Town Mayor’s three chosen charities between May 2018 and 2019. Over the course of fifteen fundraising events organised by the Mayor and his team, KidsOut received a fantastic £3,533 towards the charity’s work in the local area.

The events organised were so varied that there was something for everyone. Highlights included gourmet meals at some of Leighton Buzzard’s finest restaurants, a “Rock of Ages” concert, and a brain-tickling quiz night. Every event was hugely successful and collectively raised over £10,000 that was divided between the three chosen charities for the year.

Kathy Capper, KidsOut’s Relationships Manager, worked closely with the Mayor and his team at the council on many of these events and has been blown away by the response locally. “KidsOut were very grateful to have been selected as one of the Mayor’s chosen charities,” said Kathy. “The amount of effort put in by the team at the council in organising the events over the past twelve months has been inspiring, as has been the phenomenal reaction by the local attendees. Fundraising can be difficult and to have raised over £3,500 for our work is a fantastic achievement that I think everyone at the council can be very proud of!”

Although KidsOut has a national reach, the charity is proud to call Leighton Buzzard its home. KidsOut is a registered charity that provides positive opportunities and experiences to enhance the wellbeing and outlook of disadvantaged children, supporting them in becoming well-integrated members of society. KidsOut provides its services to over 50,000 children a year across the UK, mainly through the provision of fun days out and Toy Boxes for children rehomed after refuge. All the money raised for KidsOut from the council’s events will go towards activities for disadvantaged children residing in the local area. Recent trips have included sessions at Smart Raspberry cooking workshops, Christmas parties at the Grove theatre in Dunstable, and recording sessions at Unit Nine in Milton Keynes.

The whole KidsOut team would like to thank the Mayor and his team at the council once again for their amazing fundraising endeavours and this very generous contribution to our work in the Leighton-Linslade area. The charity looks forward to maintaining this close relationship and future collaborations.
