KidsOut’s 2019 Midlands Question of Sport Gala Dinner was another great success, raisingBirmingham qos 19 3 over £60,000 for the charity’s work with disadvantaged children in the local area. That’s an astonishing £9,000 more than the previous year! Over 400 people from Midlands based companies joined KidsOut at Villa Park Stadium for a night of fun and fundraising on Thursday 5th September. Following last year’s entertaining Chinese-themed evening, the committee this year opted for an opulent Spanish Banquet, complete with authentic food, traditional live music, and Spanish hats for quiz team captains.

KidsOut were thrilled to welcome comedian Justin Moorhouse to host the evening, alongside quiz master and football legend Chris Sutton! It remains to be seen how next year’s event will beat this star-studded line-up. Topping the Champions League was Allied Irish Bank, defending their title from last year, while the Europa League was won by Haig & Co. Both teams were well-deserved victors of the interactive sports quiz!

Birmingham qos 19 2In addition to the main quiz, guests could take part in a raffle and two auctions. There were some fantastic items up for grabs in the silent auction, including a luxury getaway at a French Chateaux for two, and a one night stay, dinner, and breakfast at Malmaison Birmingham with theatre tickets to Blood Brothers at Birmingham Hippodrome included. Available in the main auction was a unique David Bowie painting by Hertfordshire artist Rob Bishop, as well as a holiday to an exclusive Ski Chalet in the French Alps, and a Four Ball with Steve Staunton at the KidsOut Golf Day. We are sure the winners of the KidsOut raffle and auctions will enjoy their fabulous prizes.

Each year KidsOut offer awards to four people or companies for their outstanding support and contributions to the charity. This year an award for ‘Supporter of the Year’ was presented to Garry McDonald, in recognition of his tireless commitment to KidsOut’s work and mission. Congratulations Garry!

KidsOut would like to say a huge thank you to the Gala’s event committee, as the Question of Sport event would not be possible without their help and support. In particular, thank you to Sara Williams and Rick Smyth, co-chairs of the committee. The KidsOut team also wanted to thank the H-J Wealth Planning for being the event’s main sponsor. The money raised at this event will be used as vital funds to continue to supply Fun Days and Toy Boxes to disadvantaged children in the Midlands area, helping KidsOut bring fun and happiness to disadvantaged children throughout the UK. A special shout-out is also needed for the Birmingham Chinatown Lions, Natwest, and Clarke Willmott. Their help with the volunteers was essential in ensuring the night was a complete triumph.

The date of the next KidsOut Midlands Question of Sport is Thursday 17th September, 2020. Keep the date free in your calendars and be sure to stay up-to-date with the charity’s social media channels for an official announcement soon!
