Fat Boys’ Fab Fundraising

fat-boys-lunch-2On Friday 11th November, members of the KidsOut team attended the annual Fat Boys Lunch at the Apollo Greek Restaurant in Islington.

The Fat Boys are a group of up to 90 gentlemen who meet several times a year for lunches, a St George’s Day event and weekends away, providing opportunities for networking and raising money for charities, including KidsOut. Don Burt, who organises the Fat Boys events, was named KidsOut ‘Man of the Year’ in 2015 for his dedication and fundraising, and given a special award.

At the lunch, KidsOut hosted an auction, with items including Monty Python, Gordon Banks and Madness signed prints, Drayton Manor Stay and Play packs and a meal for 6 kindly donated by the Apollo Restaurant. 7 people also volunteered to run the North London Half Marathon in March 2017, pledging to raise £250 each for KidsOut in sponsorship.

A grand total of £3,315 was raised at the lunch, not including marathon pledges. This will all go towards providing toys at Christmas to children in refuge. KidsOut would like to thank the Fat Boys for their continued support and passion for the charity, as well as the Apollo Restaurant for hosting yet another enjoyable event.
