KidsOut’s 2019 Cardiff Question of Adventure Gala Dinner was a great success, raising overQOA 3 £28,000 for the charity’s work with disadvantaged children in the local area. That’s an astonishing £8,000 more than the previous Cardiff event! Over 340 people from Cardiff-based companies joined KidsOut at Cardiff City Hall for a night of fun and fundraising on Friday 27th September. The committee this year opted for an “Adventure” themed evening complete with an interactive adventure trivia quiz and explorer hats for quiz team captains.

KidsOut were thrilled to welcome real-life adventurer James Ketchell acting as quiz master and treating the audience to an in-depth talk about his recent expedition around the globe in a gyrocopter! Alongside James, the evening was hosted by Jennifer Jones, the well-known television news presenter from BBC Wales. It remains to be seen how next year’s event will beat this star-studded line-up. Congratulations to Saint-Gobain Weber, well-deserved victors of the adventure quiz!

QOA 1In addition to the main quiz, guests could take part in a raffle and two auctions. There were some fantastic items up for grabs in the silent auction, including a signed boot by football legend Mo Salah, a Four ball at the KidsOut Golf Day at Celtic Manor, and a signed shirt by Gareth Bale. Available in the main auction was a unique Tom Jones painting by Hertfordshire artist Rob Bishop, as well as a holiday to a luxury week stay in Cyprus, and an exclusive trip with James Ketchell in his gyrocopter. The KidsOut team are sure the winners of the charity raffle and auctions will enjoy their fabulous prizes.

Each year KidsOut offer awards to four people or companies for their outstanding support and contributions to the charity. This year awards were presented to committee member Hannah Rees and Downie Drywall Systems Ltd for ‘Supporter of the Year’ and ‘Cardiff Company of the Year’ respectively, in recognition of their tireless commitment to KidsOut’s work and mission. Congratulations to both recipients!

KidsOut would like to say a huge thank you to the Gala’s event committee, as the Question of Adventure event would not have been possible without their help and support. In particular, thank you to David Kelland and Nicola Woods. The money raised at this event will be used as vital funds to continue to supply Fun Days and Toy Boxes to disadvantaged children in the Cardiff area, helping KidsOut bring fun and happiness to disadvantaged children throughout the UK.

The date of the next KidsOut Cardiff gala dinner is Friday 25th September, 2020. Keep the date free in your calendars and be sure to stay up-to-date with the charity’s social media channels for an official announcement soon!
