A Record Breaking Leeds Event – Over

The Leeds Question of Sport event on the 20th March broke staggering new records with over £70,000 raised at Elland Road, the most ever raised for a Question of Sport event outside of London thanks to the generosity of almost 700 guests from the Yorkshire business community.

With an interactive sports quiz running throughout the evening, as hosted by legendary snooker player, John Parrott and Key 103 radio presenter, Darren Proctor, the evening had an extra element of competition to other fund raisers. Guests were also entertained by comedian John Stiles, son of World Cup winner Nobby and nephew of Leeds United legend, Johnny Giles.

The quiz trophy was won by the ‘Leeds Legends’ table which included Leeds United former manager, Eddie Grey who joined forces with other former players, Terry Yorath, Peter Lorrimer and Leigh Bromby. Also in attendance were former English cricketer, Anthony McGrath, sportsmen in rugby, football and cricket from all over Yorkshire and the North West.

The funds raised at last year’s event enabled KidsOut to send out over 200 toy boxes to local children who had been rescued from domestic abuse/violence and also to give a special day out to over 1500 disadvantaged children from the Yorkshire area. The money raised this year will allow even more children to benefit from these activities.

The auction saw some fantastic prizes on offer including a private box at the Dancing on Ice Tour for and up to 10 people to play in a 6 a side at Leeds United, which each sold for £1000.

KidsOut would like to thank the committee chairman, Ian Ruthven and the rest of the committee as well as the main event sponsor, Synergy and all other sponsors. We would also like to thank, Jaz Athwal for sponsoring John Stiles performance.

The event has become a fixture in the local calendar and will return to Elland Road again next year on 26th March 2015.
