What We Do

Benefitting from the performing arts

Projects

The World's A Stage

We believe that children with every kind of need should have the opportunity to benefit from the performing arts. By nurturing children's confidence and self esteem through dance, drama and singing, the performing arts opens up a world of possibilities. Possibilities and opportunities for everyone.

John Saxton Bursary Award

In honour of John Saxton, co-founder and trustee of KidsOut, The John Saxton Bursary Award recognises the importance drama plays in expressing the dreams and aspirations of children.

The award is given annually by KidsOut and consists of a year's tuition at a recognised Saturday or after school performing arts centre that is both suitable in location to, and which serves, the needs of the successful winner.

KidsOut InterAct Centre

For more than half a century, parents, educationalists and reformers have fought to make sure that every child has an equal chance in life. For the children of Birmingham, the KidsOut Interact Performing Arts Centre embraces this philosophy.

With around 30% of Birmingham's children coming from BME backgrounds and more than one in three from lone parent families, our partnership with InterAct - the charitable arm of Stagecoach - is reaching out to the children of Birmingham by running inclusive drama workshops for the City's disadvantaged children.

The centre, located at Calthorpe School in Birmingham runs free workshops for young people with special educational, physical or financial needs and who can benefit by joining in with mainstream students to learn, explore, rehearse and perform in a safe and secure environment.
