What We Do

Identifying and funding opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people

Projects

Out And About

Another area of partnership work is where other organisations, be they voluntary or corporate, have opportunities they would like to offer to children and young people but are uncertain of who they should offer them to, how they should be tailored, or have concerns about child protection if they have not worked in this area before.

KidsOut provides a 'brokering' service, bringing the children and young people together with the opportunity being offered.

For example

  • The London Narrow Boat Project (LNBP) at Braunston is offering 25 canal boat trips in 2006, for 25 groups of children and young people, to celebrate its 25th anniversary - we have found appropriate groups of children.
  • First Great Western wanted to take children from disadvantaged areas on a Christmas trip, so we liaised for them with schools in Newport, Swindon and Reading so that 300 children, most of whom had never travelled by train, had an exciting trip at the end of term - complete with a visit from Father Christmas!

Once again, by being open to working together, we can all achieve so much more for those we are here to support.
