Football For All

Since 2002, KidsOut has been working with Football in the Community to help deliver football to disadvantaged children. This has included inclusive games for disabled children; opportunities to visit and play at premiership club grounds; match day tickets; and on-going soccer programmes that are designed to bring sports and social opportunities to children and young people who would otherwise not get the chance to be involved in such a healthy, active and sociable game.

Aimed at children aged from 5 - 18 years, KidsOut's 'Football for All' sees young carers, visually impaired children and those with emotional and behavioural difficulties develop ball skills, self confidence and make new friends through a common passion for football.

In 2003, this initiative received funding from Sportsmatch and Sodexho UK, enabling us to reach out to support even more children. To date, our football programme helps over 16,500 children each year, throughout the UK.

Sportsmatch is the government's grass roots sports sponsorship incentive scheme which matches pound for pound a sponsor's new investment in a bona fide development programme. The scheme is funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport through grant aid from Sport England and is administered in England by the Institute of Sports Sponsorship. Leading catering and support services company Sodexho - advocators of initiatives that focus on health and wellbeing in local communities - generously sponsored £25,000 specifically to support the KidsOut national programme which embraces 21 clubs throughout England.

This is a truly collaborative partnership that demonstrates how commercial companies can work with the government and charities in funding community projects that are so vital to the development of young people.
