What We Do

KidsOut is a charity dedicated to supporting some of the UK’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable children with positive and happy experiences.

Just imagine you are a child who has…

NEVER received a gift

NEVER had a brand new toy

NEVER walked on a beach

NEVER been to a theme park

But you have…

LIVED every day in fear of abuse… and cried yourself to sleep each night

KidsOut is a charity dedicated to supporting some of the UK’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable children with positive and happy experiences. Each year we help bring smiles to the faces of over 200,000 children, by way of day trips, fun experiences, toys and books to those who might otherwise have none.

In collaboration with Women’s Aid Federation refuge and over 100 independent refuges, KidsOut supports approximately 20,000 children a year who with their mothers have fled domestic violence to seek safety in refuges and safe houses.

The children will have either witnessed or experienced, emotional, physical and/or sexual abuse and will usually arrive in refuge with no more possessions than the clothes they are wearing. KidsOut provides these children with a box of age and gender appropriate brand-new toys and books to help the child’s transition into their new home.

KidsOut is the only organisation in the UK to give every child in refuge the opportunity to receive Toys and Days Out.

Fun Days

Each year we take thousands of children out for Fun Days

From wellbeing workshops, theme parks and even a trip to the cinema, all our Fun Days provide children with new and happy memories to cherish and more importantly something to look forward to. In 2023, Kidsout took over 57,000 children out for Fun Days.

National Rotary KidsOut Day

More than 20,000 children participating each year

Working with over 10,000 Rotarians, we take in excess of 20,000 disadvantaged children out to somewhere fun for the day, like theme parks, zoos and the seaside.

Toys & Toy Boxes

Each year KidsOut helps 20,000 children in refuge

All children who arrive in a Women’s Aid Federation refuge and over 100 independent refuges have the opportunity to receive a box of brand-new toys to make them feel welcome in their new home. At Christmas all children living in a refuge receive a box of toys to open on Christmas morning.

Food Vouchers

We supply food vouchers for mothers with children living in refuges

We provide food vouchers to families in refuge and those affected by poverty. The vouchers provide a sense of independence for mothers in refuge, as well as helping them during school holidays when school meals are not available.

Sensory Units

KidsOut has designed and built 20 across England and Scotland

We provide semi-portable Sensory Units for schools with young children who may have special educational needs or challenges. The Pods help improve speech and language development, communication skills, memory, and comprehension.

World Stories

Free to use digital books in 32 languages

Our collection of stories from around the world represent the 32 most commonly spoken languages by children in the UK. The free-to use digital books help children who are struggling with English, improve their literacy and keep up in the classroom.
