KidsOut take on Liverpool Half Marathon 2017

5 brave runners took to the roads of Liverpool on Sunday to run the 13.1 mile route in the name of fundraising for KidsOut.

The 24th Liverpool Half Marathon, sponsored again by Vitality, is now one of the North West’s biggest half marathon events.  The route takes in some of Liverpool’s most famous landmarks, parks and of course, the River Mersey.

Our runners were all signed up for this race at KidsOut’s Liverpool Question of Sport event in May 2016, and have been training hard ever since, pledging to raise just £100 for the charity.  The total money raised for the race so far (2 days after the race) is an astounding £2600.00!! Our thanks go to all of our volunteers, in particular Tara Procter, Shannon Procter and Peter Holland who went above and beyond their minimum plegde.

Special thanks go to John Cassidy, who smashed his minimum pledge of £100 by raising an astonishing total of £1725.00 so far!!!

“I was only too pleased to accept the challenge and run the Liverpool Half Marathon, knowing that the money raised would help under privileged children. The whole experience is one I will never forget, the weather was great, the turnout of supporters even better and the smile when I finished knowing that people will benefit from the donations received, you can’t beat it.”

KidsOut would like to congratulate all who took part in this race for their fantastic effort with both the training and fundraising.  Taking on a race of this distance is no easy task, particularly for a beginner runner and the charity are extremely grateful to anybody brave enough to accept the challenge!
