Nigel is a young boy from Powys who is in the latter stages of Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. He needs total nursing care and has a short life expectancy. For Nigel and his family, KidsOut granted financial help towards one last holiday together at a farm in Blandford.
30 pupils from Wigan who have moderate learning difficulties and who are socially disadvantaged, had a muddy time at PGL (Parents Get Lost!) trip in France. For most of these children, it was their first time overseas and gave them a fabulous experience and rewarding break.
A group of 20 young people who have severe and moderate learning difficulties, enjoyed a residential break at Carroty Wood in Kent where they experienced go-karting, BMX riding, climbing and orienteering. Such grants not only enable fun and happiness for these children, but also help them to develop self confidence, build social skills and make new friends.
For Jodie, who is severely autistic, a KidsOut grant towards a special swing frame has enabled her to enjoy hours of pleasure and sensory stimulation for years to come.
KidsOut has also helped to fund a wheelchair swing for Emily from Yorkshire who is visually impaired and who has profound and multiple disabilities. Emily loves the movement of a swing and this has enabled her to enjoy an activity outdoors that she can use almost independently.
20 young carers who either care for a parent or sibling with a disability, had a fun day out at Legoland. These young people rarely have the opportunity to enjoy time out and a KidsOut grant helped them to do just that!
