Each year around 20 million used printer cartridges are thrown away in the UK, as well as a similar number of mobile phones.
The impact on the environment from these items being put into a landfill sight is enormous as they can leak toxic chemicals into the earth, as well as taking up millions of cubic feet of space.
In addition to this, did you know that it takes up to eight pints of oil to make just one printer cartridge and up to 1,000 years to decompose? By recycling, it not only significantly reduces the impact on the environment, but helps raise money for Kidsout.
By giving us your old mobile phones and cartridges, we can quite literally turn trash into cash to help support our work for disadvantaged children.
Our recycling partners give us £3 for every mobile phone and £1 for every printer cartridge.
You can email to request envelopes via kidsout@trf-uk.com
I will enclose labels that people can attach to a bag to send their cartridges in. This ensures that at this end the funds will go to KidsOut.
For larger toner cartridges or large amounts of cartridges we can arrange a free collection via courier. This is so we receive the consignment effectively and it works out that it is cheaper than sending a box or large bag via our freepost address.
You can either send your mobile phones or cartridges directly to KidsOut’s head office at 14 Church Square, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, LU7 1AE or to obtain a quantity of recycling envelopes, contact us on 01525 243222 or e-mail trash4cash@kidsout.org.uk
If you have any old phones you would like to donate in aid of KidsOut, please put them in a strong envelope, and send them free of charge to:
