Storytelling

KidsOut provides opportunities for children to hear stories, as nothing engages a child's imagination like a good story well told. Sadly, many children no longer even hear a bedtime story.

In the past, KidsOut has funded professional storytellers to tell stories to groups of children, trained children's workers in storytelling skills and undertaken joint work with 'Storybook Dads' to help Dads in prison build stronger bonds with their kids through recording themselves reading bed-time stories.

So, as with all good stories, what happens next? Our next venture will be 'Stories go Global' where we will create an online resource of 100 stories in the 20 languages most commonly spoken by children with English as a second language, with an English translation. They will be recorded and made available for free download.

Please follow us on Facebook or Twitter to find out when these are available.

In the meantime, here are links to some stories for you to download, being read by people like Richard Briers and Richard E. Grant, as well as Vale Speakers.
