On Thursday July 12th, Linslade School presented Sandra Waldram, Toy Box Scheme Manager, from KidsOut with a cheque for £477.45.
The school held a competition between the four school houses; Basset, Leighton, Norton and Salisbury, in which each house raised money for a different charity of their choice.
Leighton house chose to raise money for KidsOut, which they did by completing Shuttle runs – running quickly between two points, trying to speed up each time.
KidsOut helps disadvantaged children, and this money could go towards one of five services offered by KidsOut: the Toy Box Scheme, which provides brand new toys to over 2000 children from abusive homes; the Annual Day Out, which takes over 25,000 children who suffer from disabilities or other disadvantages; the Multimedia Outreach, which sends multimedia vans to children in rural areas who have limited access to education and media; Phyzzpod™ a sensory environment and play area which has aspects for children with a variety of disabilities; and World Stories, a free online service, providing traditional stories from 21 cultures and languages, in both English and their original language.
Every year, KidsOut help over 35,000 children who may have escaped domestic violence, have a life-limiting illness, have special educational needs or have become young carers. Find out more by watching the KidsOut video.
Thank you to all the staff and students who helped organise the event in order to raise funds for KidsOut. Your help is much appreciated.
