Rotary takes the kids out!
1,300 children with special needs were given a great day out at Paulton’s Park thanks to the Rotary Club of Great Britain and Waitrose. Over 790 carers and 320 Rotarians from 55 different Rotary Clubs in Southern Hampshire, Dorset and South Wiltshire organised the 2012 Day Out for the region. Children were transported by their local Rotary Club all arriving at 9.30 and enjoying a picnic which was provided by Waitrose.
Rotarian John Becker, who has led this event for many years. He said “I have been on KidsOut for more years than I care to remember and I wouldn’t miss it for the world. It’s great to see the kids enjoying themselves”
“We are all kids at heart,” says Caroline Millman, President of Rotary Wessex, “ The KidsOut Day Out gets bigger and more fun-packed each year. It is truly heart-warming to see these children enjoying themselves. We know KidsOut helps them lead more active lives, stimulates their minds and bodies and gives them experiences they will talk about for a long time to come.”
Since 1960 KidsOut and the Rotary Club of Great Britain have been working to deliver a fantastic Day Out for thousands of children across the UK. KidsOut was registered as a charity in 1999, further developing to now offer five national services to disadvantaged children in the UK.
