Navigant DIY SOS
Last week on Wednesday 5th April, 13 volunteers from Navigant took part in their second DIY day for KidsOut at a London refuge, to transform the refuge’s playroom and garden.
Working tirelessly throughout the day, the team cut back and tidied the overgrown garden, cleaned all the toys and transformed the playroom with a fresh coat of paint, creating a jungle themed display, alongside putting up a chalk board and painting the alphabet on the wall.
Navigant’s Rebecca Ellison says “Navigant is pleased to continue its support for KidsOut for 2017 and in particular participate in our second DIY SOS day. It was part of Navigant’s firm-wide Service Day supporting charities and organisations across the globe offering staff the opportunity to give back to the local community. After the success of the DIY SOS last year the team were excited to start transforming the playroom and garden at this refuge. When we arrived the playroom and garden needed a lot of work; the garden was very messy and overgrown and the walls in the playroom were in bad condition. It was in real need of a makeover.”
The refuge houses 6 families, all of whom were very excited to see their new play area. A refuge worker told KidsOut “the Navigant team did a fantastic job and the playroom looks like a different space altogether. It was great to have Nick, Kate and their colleagues attend our refuge, they were very friendly and creative and their makeover has made a huge difference to the overall feeling of the house and the children”.
Rebecca also added “Everyone really enjoyed the day and felt they had made a huge difference to the children at the refuge. They knew this would provide a safe and fun environment for them to learn and play together and we look forward to hopefully helping out at another refuge soon.”
