KidsOut’s Question of Cymru a success!
On Friday 6th April, local businesses gathered at Cardiff City Hall for a twist on the usual black tie fundraising evenings hosted by KidsOut, and put their Wales related knowledge to the test for KidsOut’s Question of Cymru, raising over £20,000!
300 business men and women gathered at the City Hall for an evening filled with entertainment and fundraising, including a 4 course meal served with wine. Our last Cardiff event took a twist on the popular ‘Question of Sport’ format, for the first time ever the event was ‘Question of Christmas’ (taking place in late November). This year the committee took inspiration from adapting the quiz format, basing the quiz on Welsh trivia questions, for a ‘Question of Cymru’! The evening was once again generously supported by Designer Contracts, in addition to Barratt and David Wilson Homes, QuadConsult Ltd and WD Lewis. The City Hall Assembly room was adorned with Welsh flag bunting, and two rather large stuffed dragon animals framed the lectern at the front of the stage for the evening, later being sold and raising £100 to contribute to the evening’s fundraising.
Roy Noble expertly acted as both host and auctioneer for the evening, with Bob Harris as quizmaster. The KidsOut video was accompanied by local guest band Lights Out, who also played the evening out following the end of official proceedings, which lead to over £4,000 being donated to take local children on a Fun Day.
Three special awards were presented on the night – to Nicola Woods, Designer Contracts, and Rhodri Stephens, for their wonderful support of the charity.
In addition to taking part in the main quiz, guests were able to bid on a number of fantastic prizes throughout the night in both our silent and main auctions. Prizes included original colour lithograph artworks by Picasso, Chagall and Miro, rugby tickets, signed sporting memorabilia, and a day at the races experience with 3 course lunch included. 10 guests also signed up to take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon this year, pledging to raise over £200 for KidsOut.
Rapidgrid Ltd and Clarkson Evans Ltd topped the leader board, winning the quiz playing as Pontypool RFC.
KidsOut’s Question of Cymru proved a success, and KidsOut would like to thank the committee, particularly David Kelland and Nicola Woods, for their hard work, in addition to all sponsors and guests for making the evening such a wonderful success!
