KidsOut – The Fun & Happiness Charity

Providing positive experiences for some of the UK’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

Each year more than 20,000 children flee domestic abuse to seek sanctuary in refuge.

Typically leaving home with only the clothes on their back, these traumatised children have experienced violent, emotional, and even sexual abuse and arrive at refuge with nothing.

In collaboration with Women’s Aid, partner charities and corporate supporters, KidsOut works to remind these children and thousands of others living with disadvantages what it is like to be children and just have fun.

Just imagine you are a child who has…

NEVER received a gift

NEVER had a brand new toy

NEVER walked on a beach

NEVER been to a theme park

But you have…

LIVED every day in fear of abuse… and cried yourself to sleep each night

What we do

KidsOut provides positive experiences for some of the UK’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children

National Rotary KidsOut Day

Working with over 10,000 Rotarians, we take in excess of 20,000 disadvantaged children out to somewhere fun for the day, like theme parks, zoos and the seaside.

Fun Days

From wellbeing workshops, theme parks and even a trip to the cinema, all our Fun Days provide children with new and happy memories to cherish and more importantly something to look forward to.

Toy Boxes

All children who arrive in a Women’s Aid Federation refuge and over 100 independent refuges have the opportunity to receive a box of brand-new toys to make them feel welcome in their new home.

Sensory Units

We provide semi-portable Sensory Units for schools with young children who may have special educational needs or challenges. The Pods help improve speech and language development, communication skills, memory, and comprehension.

World Stories

Our collection of interactive stories from around the world represent the 32 most commonly spoken languages by children in the UK plus typefaces and adjustments for children with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. The free-to-use digital books help children who are struggling with English, improve their literacy and keep up in the classroom. See more information about our programme to have schools take it on as part of their curriculum.

Food Vouchers

We provide food vouchers to families in refuge and those affected by poverty. The vouchers provide a sense of independence for mothers in refuge, as well as helping them during school holidays when school meals are not available.
