Autumn Bowling Trips!

Between October and December, KidsOut sent over 356 children and 176 adults on Fun bowlingDay out to their local TenPin bowling alley! For many, this was their first chance to take part in a fun and competitive game of bowling, and it proves very popular! Fun Days are important to vulnerable or disabled children, particularly physical activities such as bowling.  They provide an opportunity for isolated disabled young people to come together for a leisure activity not normally available to them, while providing support for parents and carers and building confidence in a busy environment.

TenPin are a company KidsOut work closely with to provide Fun Days and have proven to be inclusive and incredibly understanding to the needs of disabled young people. Recent bowling Fun Days have included locations across the UK such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Birmingham, Cardiff, Nottingham, and more!

One of the support workers provided some fantastic feedback:

“The children have made friends with other children going through the same thing. Having such a positive social experience at this difficult time helps them to think of their time in refuge as a good time. Children I have worked with in the past recall trips they went on as being their most clear memories.”

One of the children that took part was eager to tell us:

“It was my first time, I loved it! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I want to come again!”

We hope all those who attended our bowling fun days had a great time!
