An account of the KidsOut Day Out

Supported by Rotary This year the Southend Rotary Club welcomed children from thirteen schools from various parts of Essex to take part in a fun day out. Although one club down from last year over six hundred children and their carers enjoyed a day of sunshine music and thrills.

Children and carers were dropped off at the ‘Talk’ club, where the children enjoyed an experience with great DJ’s, lights and music. One or two groups gave the light a miss and headed straight down to City Beach or the Sealife Centre, the rest enjoyed the rare opportunity for children to make as much noise as they want, dance if they wish and however they want, and to enjoy their favourite music.

After lunch the children and carers walked the short distance to the ‘Adventure Island’ theme park where, thanks to owner Philip Miller and his Adventure Island staff, they were all given wrist bands to allow them free access to all the rides.

Our thanks go to the management, DJs and staff of ‘Talk’ club, to Philip Miller and the management at Adventure Island and the Sealife Centre for their generosity, to Tesco for their assistance with the food, to all the carers and to the Rotary Clubs who organised the transport.
